MHK praises mature debate in Keys
A major step forward.
The view of Dr Alex Allinson after hours of debate in the House of Keys yesterday on the future of abortion law on the Island.
Various amendments were tabled, but calls for the time limit to allow abortions on request to be reduced from 14 weeks to 12 weeks, and abortion for serious health reasons not to be allowed after 21 weeks instead of the proposed 23 were defeated.
Speaking on Mandate on Wednesday morning, Dr Allinson said it had been a mature debate.
The debate continues in the chamber next week on Tuesday 13 March.
