Four fire crews from Ramsey and Kirk Michael were called out on Saturday night (17 November) to fight a blaze at a bungalow in Sulby.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus removed roof tiles to tackle flames which had engulfed the loft of the property in Carrick Park, at around 6pm.
The blaze caused extensive damage in the bungalow.
With all local tenders involved in the incident, a fire crew from Laxey was put on standby to provide cover in the north of the Island.
Officers are urging the public to make sure any fires in their homes are installed properly, and to test smoke alarms each week.
