Sixty thousand were used on-Island in May alone
The fast-food giant McDonalds has confirmed its Isle of Man outlet will be included in plans to phase out plastic straws.
In an announcement today, the American chain will be taking measures to swap plastic for paper straws, after a customer petition warned of ocean pollution.
The roll out, which is set to begin in September, will apply to its 1,361 restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
It's believed the firm uses 1.2 million single-use plastic straws every day in Britain.
The Island's outlet on Peel Road went through 60,000 in May alone.
