Some M.E. treatments failing Manx patients

Academic highlights need for specialist service

Treatment of M.E. by some health professionals on the Island is failing those with the illness according to the local support group and a visiting academic.  

David Tuller is from the University of Berkeley, and his criticism of some treatment methods have been praised for exposing approaches which harm patients.

Last week he spoke to Manx politicians, helping the M.E. Support Group lobby for a dedicated service to help those with the disease.

Though work has been ongoing with the Department of Health and Social Care to make changes, many GPs are reluctant to make a diagnosis, with patients often been given incorrect and damaging advice.

Mr Tuller says in many cases medical professionals are making the lives of those with M.E. worse, and things need to change:
