Vehicles must be removed from site by 6pm

The unmanaged car park on the site of the former Lord Street bus station will close to the public later today (22 June).

All unauthorised vehicles on the grounds must be removed by 6pm this evening.

It comes after a statement earlier this week announced that plans for a major 14-storey development there have taken a 'key step forward'.

Once the closure comes into force, access will be restricted by locked barriers with the closure in accordance with an agreement with the Department of Infrastructure.

Proposals for the development which were re-submitted last month would include a multi-screen cinema, apartments, bus facilities, offices and commercial units.

As of Tuesday (17 June), developer Lord Street Development SPV Limited said it was 'in the final stages of the planning process' and that they remained 'optimistic that the town will soon benefit from a comprehensive regeneration scheme.'
