Flight bound for Birmingham was cancelled earlier today

Loganair passengers were escorted from an aircraft after smoke was reported coming from the plane at Ronaldsway airport earlier today (10 August).

Thirty-four travellers bound for Birmingham were moved to safety while the Airport Fire Service attended the emergency.

Crews remained at the scene until 12:30pm. 

The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed the situation led to the cancellation of both the Isle of Man to Birmingham flight and the return leg, which was due to land at 3.05pm.

It adds all remaining flights are operating as normal, and passengers should continue to arrive at Isle of Man Airport as planned.
