'Union claims ill-judged'
A body which represents locum doctors has hit back at suggestions they are overpaid by Noble's Hospital.
Unite head Eric Holmes claimed last month that the contract-basis doctors are causing 'rot' at Noble's Hospital, and accused locums of colluding to inflate wages.
The claims have been refuted by hospital bosses, who say spending on locums has fallen by a quarter in the past year.
Stephen Mhiribidi (Mirri-BIDDY) is from the Independent Health Professionals Association.
He says Mr Holmes' remarks were 'ill-judged', adding the higher pay commanded by locums is to mitigate difficult and inconsistent working conditions:
