Contests were supposed to happen this month
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer has confirmed that local authority elections will now take place in April next year.
The contest was supposed to be held later this month, but was postponed in March as part of the Manx's government's emergency response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Harmer says it's hoped the year-long delay will give local authorities the best chance to return to normality.
He's thanked them for continuing 'vital waste collection' and other services 'that are part of the Island's critical national infrastructure'.
