Liverpool woman admits money laundering offences

30-year-old allowed others to use her bank account

A Liverpool woman is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to converting criminal property.

Georgia Nicola Bell appeared at Douglas Courthouse, via live video link, where she also admitted two counts of entering into an arrangement to allow someone else to use her bank accounts.

The 30-year-old, of Ardwick Road, committed the offences between 11 May 2023 and 7 March this year.

The court heard Bell was stopped at the Sea Terminal by police earlier this year as part of ‘Operation Voodoo’ – a joint initiative between police on the Island and in Merseyside.

Her partner was found with a large amount of cash and the vehicle they were travelling in was fitted with an anti-tracking device.

Records showed Bell had made a number of trips to the Island despite not having any personal links here; analysis of her bank accounts also showed deposits had been made by people she didn’t know.

Committal proceedings – where the case is elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery – were completed; Bell will next appear before that court on 31 January.

Bail continues.
