Steady fall in Meary Veg throughput
The volume of waste processed at the Island's main sewage works has fallen by 9% over the last five years.
Data from a Freedom of Information request shows Manx Utilities' Meary Veg site received 11.2 billion litres of sewage last year, down from 12.3 billion in 2012.
That works out at roughly 312,000 litres per household.
The plant in Santon was opened 13 years ago as part of the IRIS project, and processes the bulk of waste coming from 370 miles of Manx sewers.
