Election will decide who replaces Tony Wild
Nominations close later today (Wednesday) to try and fill the vacancy on the Legislative Council.
It follows the decision of Tony Wild to retire on the grounds of ill health.
To date, three candidates have declared publicly and an election is scheduled to be held on Thursday, May the 18th at 2.30pm.
It will be the first contest since the House of Keys approved changes to Legislative Council election procedures.
A series of approved amendments means the vote of MHKs will now be known publicly, as opposed to a secret ballot, while a candidate will be successful as long as they receive a majority of the members voting.
