Legend of Manx archaeology dies

Rob Farrer RBV was 71

Tributes are being paid to a leading figure in Manx archaeology who has died at the age of 71.

Rob Farrer was present when a 14th Century Bishop’s Seal was uncovered using a metal detector and also helped with the identification of the Billown Neolithic complex.

His efforts saw him awarded the Reih Bleeaney Vanannan in 2009 - the Isle of Man's highest cultural honour.

Following his own diagnosis, Rob Farrer was also a tireless campaigner for better support for Parkinson's disease:
