New MLC agrees change is needed but says there are higher priorities
Reforming Legislative Council elections is important but not urgent according to one of the body's newest members.
Tynwald considered a motion at this month's sitting calling for changes to the way candidates are elected and their role once sworn in.
However, members rejected all but one of the suggestions from Onchan MHK Julie Edge, only backing calls for candidates to declare their interests ahead of the election.
Gary Clueit, who was elected earlier this month, supports further change, but believes it's not the highest priority for the Island's parliament:
DOI actively installing mould-preventing devices in its vacant social houses
Tricia Hillas pens letter ahead of LegCo voteĀ
Petition to ban electric shock collars on Island pets reaches 800 signatures
