Public urged to avoid north Mooragh area
A public warning's been issued after raw sewage leaked onto the beach in Ramsey.
Members of the public should avoid the north Mooragh area where a sewage outfall pipe has been damaged, and material including tissue and non-organic waste is being discharged directly onto the beach.
It's thought the pipe was breached during construction work in the area of the Vollan Pump Station.
Walkers should avoid a section of coast between the slipway opposite the entrance to Ramsey Rugby club house and the north end of the Vollan, below the former Grand Island Hotel.
Contractors worked through Wednesday night (9/10 Nov) to expose to expose the damaged section, so it could be repaired - and works are being monitored by the MUA and officers from the environment department.
