Maintenance check reveals structural damage
The Laxey Wheel has stopped turning.
A recent routine maintenance check revealed Lady Isabella has structural damage to a connecting timber rod.
In order to prevent further damage, Manx National Heritage has decided to stop the wheel turning until the issue is resolved.
MNH says it will be working with the Department of Infrastructure to get the 165-year-old wheel turning again as soon as possible.
The site remains open to the public.
