One week to election
Voting to fill five seats on the Legislative Council will take place a week today (Mon 5th)
Fifteen candidates are vying for the five available places.
In the run up to the election, candidates have been appearing on Manx Radio's Mandate programme, to explain more about themselves, their views on local issues and why they've decided to stand.
This morning businesswoman Kate Lord-Brennan and former TV journalist and producer Kerry Sharpe spoke to James Davis.
Mrs Sharpe said the path to standing to be an MLC came out of researching a book into the history of caring for children on the Island, while Mrs Lord-Brennan said she was drawn to the role of scrutinising legislation.
Both explained why they believed they would be right for the job.
