ManxSPCA says Isle of Man should follow UK's example

Tomorrow (3 July) will be the last opportunity for people to contribute to a public consultation into the issue of livestock worrying in the Island.

Livestock worrying is defined as a dog chasing, attacking, or behaving in a way likely to cause harm or distress to livestock.

It's an issue that affects both livestock keepers and dog owners.

Juana Warburton of the MSPCA says the government need look no further that England and Scotland when formulating new legislation:

Announcing the consultation back in April, Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Clare Barber said: "Most dog owners act responsibly, but livestock worrying, especially during lambing, can have devastating impacts on the farming community. 

"It is right that we consider strengthening our laws, and this consultation fulfils a commitment we made in our Department Plan."
