Public reminded that fire risk still exists in countryside
Fire services are reminding the public to stay vigilant in the countryside after a large gorse fire yesterday.
The alarm was raised around 5.30pm when crews were called to the site in the area of the central valley by the river in Patrick.
Due to the location, crews could only reach the area on foot or by off-road vehicles.
A specialist off road appliance from Kirk Michael was also requested to attend.
An area of around 200 x 300 yards was involved in the fire and crews were in attendance for around two hours tackling the blaze and damping down.
The cause of the blaze still isn't known - and officers say it shows there is still a significant fire risk in the countryside, despite recent rainfall.
