KWC salutes pupils' iGCSE results

Strong pass level at higher grades

The Island's independent school King William's College is celebrating its pupils GCSE results.

Just under a third (31%) of all exams entered were awarded A* or A grades, with 81% of all papers achieving A*-C grades.

That figure compares with just under 69% A*-C among pupils at the Department of Education's five secondary schools.

College Principal Joss Buchanan has congratulated KWC's international students, who acheived 'some very impressive results' while studying in a second language.

Two King William's students came within one grade of achieving a clean sweeep of 11 A*s.

Almost all subjects taught at KWC use the iGCSE qualification which uses the A*-G scale.

From next summer the 9-1 scale will apply, and the first subjects will move to the new banding at College from next summer.
