A new garden in Douglas dedicated to the Island’s best-known artist and designer’s been described as “not enough, but a good start”.
Douglas Council announced last week it would set up a tribute to Archibald Knox next year in the Sunken Gardens on the town’s promenade, marking the 150th anniversary of Knox’s birth.
Liam O’Neill of the Isle of Man Archibald Knox Society says the organisation hopes eventually the Island can have a museum celebrating the work of the artist, who was born in Cronkbourne.
He says a garden isn’t a fitting enough tribute – but understands times are tight for local authorities:
