Social Affairs Committee to investigate
Victims of child abuse at the former Knottfield Children's Home must be given closure to able to move on - so says Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker.
This week Tynwald passed his motion for the matter to be investigated by the Social Affairs Committee.
Health Minister Kate Beecroft had tabled an amendment which would've stopped that taking place - but this was defeated in a close vote, with 14 for, 17 against.
Mr Baker says a committee is the best way to address the historic abuse with sensitivity and openness.
He told Manx Radio he wants to ensure these issues are 'officially' acknowledged, and that victims have an opportunity to come forward:
