'Knives and sharp implements' left outside charity shops

Fly tipping warning from police after instances outside Crossroads

Police have issued a warning after reports of donations being left outside of closed charity shops, including some containing knives and sharp implements.

The Constabulary says, while many people may believe they are making a donation, items left outside opening hours can cause dangers and could be considered as fly tipping.

The instances have been reported to police by Crossroads IOM.

It says the sharp items pose a serious risk to children, passers-by, and charity staff and volunteers.

There's also a risk of individuals using them for criminal purposes, police warn. 

Anyone who finds such items is urged to report it to police.
