The government’s revealed out of all its departments, only one has taken on extra directors over the past five years.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran quizzed Policy and Reform Minister John Shimmin about how many new top managers the government had employed since 2010.
Mr Shimmin said the Department of Education and Children and Home Affairs had both cut three posts, the Department of Infrastructure had cut back by two managers and the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture had cut one.
But his written answer also shows over the past five years, the Department of Economic Development – which Mr Shimmin headed for much of that time – took on two new director-level civil servants.
