Local authority says some paths are 'hazardous'

Jurby Commissioners says it's 'getting nowhere' with the Department of Infrastructure fixing parish's 'undressed' pavements and preventing gorse fires.

The local authority claims it has been contacting the DOI every two weeks to try and resolve the pavement problem - but only a small section in Sandygate has been completed so far.

It believes this was done to stop the board sending emails requesting the issues be resolved.

The commissioners also says the department is leaving a gorse hedge next to the play area 'au naturel' despite receiving a notice from an examiner to say it was a fire hazard.

It confirmed a request has been made for a risk assessment from the DOI for information about the decision that was made.

The Department of Infrastructure has been contacted for comment.
