Public and private funds secure libraries
The Manx government's decision to offer £100,000 to a local charity has come as a 'welcome shock' to volunteers.
Funding announced in Keys this week will support both the Family Library in Westmoreland Road, Douglas, and the mobile library, which visits communities Island-wide.
Mary Cousins of the Family Library says the 'incredibly generous' support will secure the future of the service for the next year.
Government's promise of financial assistance follows a pledge from e-Gaming magnates the Scheinberg family, which had promised to match-fund donations to the charity up to £125,000.
Mrs Cousins says continued fundraising is still needed, but a lot of the pressure has now been lifted:
