Ancestor rescued by SS King Orry during WW2
Popstar Marvin Humes has revealed a surprising family tie to the Isle of Man.
The 33-year-old, who shot to fame as a member of boyband JLS, is appearing in an episode of the BBC series 'Who Do You Think You Are?' this evening, 6 August.
As well as learning about his ancestors' links to the slave trade, Marvin discovered that his mother's grandfather was rescued by a Steam Packet vessel during the Second World War:
The 'SS King Orry' was one of almost a thousand ships to take part in Operation Dynamo, before she was sunk by German dive bombers returning to Dunkirk on 30 May, 1940.
You can watch Marvin's episode tonight on BBC1 at 9pm.
