Jellyfish in Manx waters not likely to sting

Barrel and moon jellyfish have been seen on the Island's beaches recently

The type of jellyfish currently being spotted on Manx beaches aren't likely to sting.

That's from the Manx Wildlife Trust's marine officer following reports of them washing up around the Island's coast.

Jellyfish are regular visitors at this time of year and are expected to remain here for a few weeks while plankton remains in the sea nearby.

Lion's mane jellyfish, which can sting, are sometimes seen but Dr Lara Howe says the current variety being seen here isn't a concern:
