Political commentator says triple lock is a drain on National Insurance fund
A political commentator says it's hard for government to take the pensions triple lock away from pensioners because they vote.
Alistair Ramsay has been discussing the financial challenges facing the next administration ahead of September's General Election.
Government previously announced plans to scrap the mechanism but paused the proposals following a backlash.
The system means the state pension will increase by the average earnings growth, UK CPI inflation or 2.5 percent - whichever is highest - each year.
