Isle of Pride: 'Aggressive behaviour to police not the way to heal and learn'

Organisers welcome 'strong message of inclusion'

Isle of Pride says aggressive behaviour towards police is not the way to heal and learn.

It's after some raised concerns about police attending the event.

The festival's organisers say they welcomed the police presence, and are grateful for all the opinions shared, and the majority have been 'strong messages of inclusion'.

A statement says: "We respect the opinions of others but inclusion is a core value for us, underpinning all that we do.  Exclusion of the police or aggressive behaviour towards police officers is not the way to heal and learn."

It goes on: "We are grateful for the many opinions shared with us on this matter, especially from those affected by past behaviours of the police.

"We are encouraged that the overwhelming majority of opinion expressed is a strong message of inclusion and that now is a time to heal and learn, so that, together, we can create a safer, more inclusive community in which we can all take pride."
