Amanda Litherland returned to the Island to record a 'Shipping Postcard'
A special programme will air on Radio 4 today (1 January 2025) featuring a BBC continuity announcer who grew up here on the Isle of Man.
Amanda Litherland, from Onchan, returned to the Island recently to record the piece marking the Shipping Forecast's centenary year.
Several announcers visited their home shipping areas to talk about their own personal connection to the sea for the 'Shipping Postcards'.
The 'Shipping Postcards' will air on BBC Radio 4 at 11am and 12:12pm today and will be available after broadcast on BBC Sounds.
Amanda says the broadcast remains iconic 100 years on:
Overnight sailings cancelled due to adverse weather
Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Complaints process for health system changed
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
