Residents urged to check business legitimacy if unsure
The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (IOMFSA) has issued an updated warning regarding a fraudulent website, which claims to represent Fairbairn Private Bank (IOM) Limited.
The notice follows an earlier warning issued on 16 April 2025.
The website, www.fairbairnpvt.com, lists an Isle of Man address at St Mary’s Court, 20 Hill Street, Douglas, and claims to offer banking services and virtual currency products.
The FSA has confirmed that the telephone number provided is not issued by a legitimate Isle of Man telecommunications provider, and there are several typographical errors appear throughout the site.
Investigations have found no association between the website and any genuine Isle of Man companies.
The legitimate occupiers of the St Mary’s Court address given have also confirmed they have no connection to the website or its claimed services.
The Authority warns that anyone accessing the site may be at risk of fraud or identity theft.
Those already engaging with the website are advised to contact the police and the IOMFSA Enforcement Division on 689311 or enforcement@iomfsa.im.
General guidance on avoiding fraud is available via the Action Fraud website: identity theft and advance fee fraud.
The Authority encourages the public to remain vigilant and verify that any entity offering financial services in or from the Isle of Man is properly licensed, using the official IOMFSA register: https://www.iomfsa.im/register-search/.
