Isle of Man braces itself for Storm Eunice

Winds of up to 75mph could hit the Island

The Island’s bracing itself for Storm Eunice, as an amber weather warning will be in place later this morning.

It means 'be prepared', as there's a risk of severe weather impacting on work, schools and travel and a potential risk of injury.

We're being advised to stay indoors between 10am and 3pm and only travel if it’s absolutely necessary.

The 8.45am and 2.15pm Steam Packet sailings today have also been cancelled.

There'll be a number of road closures - the Mountain Road isn't likely to reopen until the storm has passed this afternoon.

Shore Road in Gansey has now closed due to coastal overtopping, as well as Peel and Castletown's proms.

Bus Vannin services will operate as normal, apart from school swimming bus services, which have been cancelled, and buses that are due to travel along closed roads will be diverted.

Teams from Isle of Man Constabulary and the Department of Infrastructure will work throughout the day to keep routes functioning and the public safe, with Civil Defence on standby.

Isle of Man Post Office has closed a number of its offices until 4pm.
