Departure lounge to undergo multi-phase revamp to enhance passenger experience
Isle of Man Airport has announced a series of upgrades to its departure lounge, with work set to begin next week.
The improvements aim to enhance passenger comfort and accessibility.
The first three phases of the project are scheduled to take place between March 2025 and mid-April 2025.
Initial changes will include upgraded seating, high-top work bars with charging points, and designated areas for passengers with reduced mobility.
The existing bar area will be repurposed as an expanded Costa Coffee zone, while the current Costa space will be transformed into a new bar offering locally sourced beverages and snacks.
The airport has advised passengers to be mindful of space limitations during the works and to enter the departure lounge no more than two hours before their flight.
Interim Airport Director Geoff Pugh described the project as "the first step in a series of enhancements aimed at improving the overall airport experience."
Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood MHK also welcomed the changes: "I appreciate the Airport Board's efforts in supporting and developing these changes. I look forward to seeing the enhanced departure lounge."
Further upgrades planned for later in the year include new carpets, redecorating, and the installation of additional seating in the rear waiting zone and holding lounge.
