Island's planning laws "a bit of a state" says developer

Government says changes are underway

A housing developer says the Island's planning system is "a bit of a state".

Sulby Riverside Limited wants to build 200 homes and a pub at Ballachrink in Ramsey, but says progress has been slow.

Concerns about the impact on the salt marshes at the Poyll Dooey Nature Reserve have also been partly to blame.

Planning laws fall into the remit of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
