Report shows Isle of Man companies paid €150m last year
Moves could be underway in Ireland to change funding for private asylum accommodation providers after it was revealed a third have ties to offshore financial centres.
The findings, made by digital news outlet Extra.ie, show a number of companies in the Isle of Man were paid almost a combined total of €150 million last year.
The money is allocated to provide shelter for those entering the country seeking refuge or international protection.
While no laws have been broken, news reporter for the Irish Mail on Sunday, Colm McGuirk, says some politicians in Ireland are unhappy with the current situation:
