UK proposes points-based system after Brexit transition

The Isle of Man may need to change its immigration policy to correspond with the United Kingdom.

That's the view of political member of the Department of Home Affairs Dr Alex Allinson MHK.

It follows an announcement by Britain's Home Office that a points-based system is likely to be introduced after the Brexit transition period.

With new immigration policies expected before Tynwald in March or April, Dr Allinson says it's important to be prepared:

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Liberal Vannin Party says people should be judged on their ability to contribute rather than their country of origin.
