Island's A level pass rate over 98%

Most students expected to get to university of their choice

Today’s A-Level results have matched the Island’s best-ever set of grades.

The Island’s five secondary schools’ 326 students sat an average of seven subjects each, and managed a pass rate of 98.2 per cent: equalling 2010’s record.

And this year’s hopefuls managed to score the highest grade 8.3 per cent of the time, the highest since the A-star was introduced.

Co-ordinating Adviser for 11-19 Education on the Island, Paul Craine, says it's a good overall set of results and most students will have achieved what they wanted:

The Department of Education and Children says its figures shouldn’t be compared with the UK – because the stats there include mature students, colleges and independent schools.
