No need for alarm during Saturday's routine exercise
A routine test of the Island's Public Warning system will take place this morning (Sat).
All 31 alarm sites will sound a steady note, for a duration of 30 seconds, at 11am.
No action is required by residents - the test is a regular exercise which takes place several times per year.
In a real emergency, such as a freak weather event or catastrophe across the water, the sirens will ring out for 3 minutes.
If such an event was to occur, the Civil Defence service advises people to stay indoors and tune in to local radio stations for updates.
