Island water stocks down by 25%

No hosepipe ban yet as dry spell continues

Water levels at the Island's reservoirs are at approximately 75 per cent capacity, which Manx Utilities says is "very unusual for the time of year".

After a very wet winter the last two months have been unseasonably dry - the Ronaldsway Met Office recorded the third driest spring since 1984.

MU has started a Use Water Wisely campaign to encourage people to reduce unnecessary use of water.

If the dry weather continues and reservoir levels continue to decline, water preservation options will be considered, including a ban on using hosepipes.
