Island to be placed under two weather warnings

Amber alert for coastal overtopping and yellow alert for gales

An amber weather warning will come into force tomorrow (20 October) for coastal overtopping.

Adverse weather conditions are expected to affect exposed coasts between 12pm and 4pm.

Large spring high tides, at around 2pm, will occur in conjunction with gale force south westerly winds resulting in large waves breaking.

Ronaldsway Met Office says debris will be brought ashore.

Areas most at risk at Shore Road, Castletown Promenade, northern parts of Douglas Promenade, Laxey Promenade and Ramsey Promenade.

Inner harbour or quayside flooding is likely to be minor although flood defences should continue to be deployed.

A yellow weather warning for severe gales will come into effect from 2pm tomorrow until 2am on Monday (21 October).

Gusts will steadily increase with speeds of up to 60 miles per hour possible in the later afternoon and evening.
