Rotary Star Awards for 140 youngsters
Pupils from 19 primary schools on the Isle of Man have now been recognised for being ‘good citizens’.
The Island's three Rotary Clubs have presented ‘Rotary Star Awards’ to more than 140 youngsters over the course of this year.
The awards went to children who have ‘gone the extra mile’ to help others - by raising money for charity, supporting classmates or helping friends and relatives.
Mary Jane Falconer from the Rotary Club of Douglas said: "I am reminded of the saying that ‘people may not always see the effort you put in, but they will see the difference it makes.’
"The Rotary Stars programme shines a spotlight on the efforts children make in supporting their school, fellow pupils, teachers, family and the wider community.
"An example of a winner this year was provided by one school who in their nomination wrote ‘outside of school this child has volunteered her time for odd jobs at Hospice and has also raised lots of money for them. She often asks how she can support members of staff around the school. She has a positive energy and is always willing to help others, cheering them up when they are low’.
"It is a true honour to present these awards to so many deserving young people.
"Thank you to the teachers and staff at the schools who have supported this programme and made it such a success in 2026."
The Rotary Star Awards were presented at special school assemblies where one pupil in each year received a certificate, badge and a book or gift token.
David Scott, Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann added: "Since we launched Rotary Stars six years ago the scheme has grown each year.
"I am delighted that thanks to a collaboration with Douglas and Onchan Rotary Clubs, 19 primary schools on the Island now take part.
"Hopefully we will be able to get all the schools to participate over the next few years, because it is a wonderful way of encouraging younger generations to value the importance of caring for their community and others less fortunate than themselves."
There are 3 Rotary Clubs on the Isle of Man – Douglas, Onchan and Rushen and Western Mann.
