Celtic League calls for greater control
The Manx government must bypass the UK and 'reclaim control' over territorial waters, according to a political campaign group.
Mark Kermode, chairman of the Mannin Branch of the Celtic League, says international law gives the Island rights to manage waters up the median line with other jurisdictions.
At present, government here independently controls waters up to three miles out, but must consult with other nations on management from three to 12 miles.
An emergency resolution on the issue was passed by the Celtic League last weekend - it's now approached the UN to take the matter further.
Mr Kermode says the organisation is left with little choice:
