Island experiences driest July on record

Only 2mm of rain fell last month

Last month was the driest July on record, says Ronaldsway Met Office. 

Only 2mm of rain was recorded over the 31 days.

July also met official heatwave criteria, which is three consecutive days with maximum temperatures above 25°C.

The month was also the warmest July on record with a 17.4°C 24-hour mean temperature. 

Meanwhile, the 31 days saw 291.9 hours of sunshine, 47 percent higher than the long-term average of 198.3 hours.
