Island Eurovision voters advised to use landlines

Warning over mobile charges

Island residents wanting to vote in this year's Eurovision Song contest are being warned they should use their landlines to avoid higher mobile charges.

This year's final is being held in Israel on Saturday.

Voters in the UK can choose either to call from their landline using the long (11-digit) number for the country of their choice or from their mobile phones using the short-code (seven-digit) number for the country of their choice.

However, the BBC, which is broadcasting the event live, says callers from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man are advised to call from their landlines as the seven-digit numbers are not available to them, for reasons described as being "outside of the BBC’s control.”

The numbers to be used will be given during the programmes.
