Go Card also accepted in temporary measures
Island buses are to only accept contactless payment from tomorrow (20 March) onwards.
Bus Vannin says it's due to the ongoing presence of Covid-19 on the Island.
Until now cash had been accepted.
However the temporary measures are being brought in to 'further protect passengers and drivers'.
Go Cards will also be allowed, with the £2 fee for one waived until cash payments can return.
Meanwhile, the union Unite had put an appeal out for people to be extra careful while using buses.
In a post on social media, the body says buses are a critical service, and keep distances, wearing a mask and using contactless payment, are all key ways to protect staff and other passengers.
