
A 10-year-old boy from the Isle of Man has been flown back to the British Isles today after being injured in a road accident.
Mark Lalor-Smith was hit by a car yesterday in the town of Fethiye in south west Turkey as he and his family walked to a restaurant.
Local media reports say he suffered serious leg injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital in Antalya.
He was on holiday with his family, who live in Foxdale.
His father Julian is a well-known senior civil servant.
No other family members were hurt in the incident.
A spokesperson for the Department of Education said ‘our thoughts are with Mark and his family at this difficult time’.
Mark has been flown to Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool today to continue his recovery.
