IOMMS: Public need to be convinced they are getting 'value for money' before more funding put into health

Questioning if NHS levy is needed ahead of 'Recovery, Reform and Restructuring'

The Isle of Man Medical Society says the public and government alike need to be convinced we are 'getting excellent value for money' - before more funding is approved for our Island's health and social care services.

Over the weekend, the organisation came out strongly against proposals for a new NHS levy to be implemented on the Island.

Yesterday, Treasury Minister Alex Allinson said the Isle of Man Medical Society 'have the wrong end of the stick' regarding the plans.

His department is currently carrying out a consultation; and if the changes are approved it wouldn't come into force until the 2027/28 financial year at the earliest.
