Visiting biker lost leg in accident
A Yorkshireman seriously injured in a crash on the Isle of Man has been awarded compensation in America.
Motorcyclist Andrew Ellis lost his right leg as a result of the accident, which involved a US citizen.
Insurers for the other driver had claimed the case could only be tried under Manx law, limiting the amount of compensation which could be awarded.
But, during formal mediation, representatives for the Scarborough man successfully argued it should be heard in the US.
