It's after contractors working on the runway drainage project 'disturbed buried items'

Investigations will continue throughout this weekend into a chemical incident that occurred near the airport this morning (20 June).

It occurred during airfield drainage works.

Earlier today, the Department of Infrastructure confirmed that 'contractors working on the runway drainage project this morning disturbed buried items which require further investigation, and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance to make the area safe'.

While activity by the emergency services is expected to continue at the scene near Derbyhaven, the public should not be alarmed.

Services in and out of the airport are unaffected and passengers are advised to arrive for their flights as normal.
