Inquest opens into death of S100 rider

A Southern 100 competitor who crashed in practice on the Billown circuit at this year's meeting, died from multiple injuries. 

At the opening of an inquest into his death this morning (16 July) in Douglas, Coroner John Needham confirmed the identity of David Stephen Jukes, his date of birth - he was 46 - and his home address, Tromode Woods in Douglas.

The hearing was told Mr Jukes, who was a nurse, died as a result of massive blunt force trauma after coming off his machine in racing practice on July 8th.

His family chose not to attend the short inquest. Present were officers from the Southern Motorcycle Club including Clerk of the Course Phil Taubman and Competitions Secretary George Peach.

The Coroner passed on his condolences to Mr Juke's family.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
